Wedding Photography guide
This wedding guide should give you all the info you need
about having me come along to capture your day.
SO, YOU’RE GETTING MARRIED? AWESOME!
First of all, thank you so much for your interest in my photography, it really does mean the world to me, so you’re already legends in my eyes!
I’m Daniel Ackerley, a photographer of people (and often cute dogs at weddings), with a massive passion for alternative music, good beer, cats, fig rolls and geeky hobbies.
I live in the lovely village of Alconbury, Cambridgeshire with my wife Jenny and our two cats Peanut & Milo. I have been capturing weddings professionally for 15 years now, capturing over 650 in that time, and it’s been the biggest passion of my life having the privilege of working with so many amazing and diverse couples.
I have also picked up a few awards along the way, including being named by Professional Photo Magazine as a Top 50 British Wedding Photographer in 2024, and I have been a guest speaker at conferences for other wedding professionals.
I know choosing a photographer can seem a little overwhelming, so I have put this guide together to explain how I work, what I value and what my pricing and package options are .
First things first: do we need to sell a kidney to afford you?

how do we know you’re the right camera ninja for us?
Guess what? It’s a wedding, not a photoshoot, and the types of couples that book in with me are looking for a modern photographer with a creative and fun approach as they feel a bit awkward in front of a camera. If there is one thing all my couples tell me after their day it’s that my relaxed way of working really helped them (as well as their guests) feel comfortable, and I think this is one of my best skills as a photographer.
I am ultimately passionate about all of the real moments that will define your wedding, so I will blend in to capture all those wonderful and natural candid images, but when appropriate will use my creativity, high energy and sense of mischief to also have a lot of fun with you and your guests.
Capturing how it feels is what really brings my photographs to life and I believe you can see that throughout my portfolio. Joyful, authentic and real.
GROUP PHOTOGRAPHS: DO YOU DO THEM?
Group photographs are still really important to most couples, but that doesn’t mean they have to be boring, take ages, or become a dreaded part of the day!
I make this part fun and quick, no one really wants to be stood around for ages doing group photographs, so I usually break the groups into two parts – family first followed by wedding party & friends – and will often get creative with these by adding movement or having a bit of a laugh with your guests.
In the run up to your wedding I will ask you to fill out a Group Shot List with your selection and I will have it on me so nothing gets missed.
posing sucks! will you pose us?
I hate having my photo taken (ironic right?), so I know how daunting it can be having someone shove a camera in your face, meaning I work quickly and concentrate on fun, natural and relaxed moments of you both, rather than anything overly posed, forced or awkward.
Capturing your personality is incredibly important to me, and I want your images to reflect who you are as a couple, so we will go for a little walk for around 15 mins to have some fun and photograph you as you get to enjoy a little bit of time together as a married couple.

A brew and a chat!
The best thing to do is to have a chat! I love to meet all my couples, either via Zoom or in person for a coffee, so we can get to know each other and work out if we are the perfect fit! I can also answer any questions you have about what I do in more detail, and you can tell me more about all your plans or ask me for advice about certain aspects of your day (15 years of experience has certainly provided me with a wealth of great knowledge which I am very happy to share).
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
do you charge for travel?
I love travelling and capturing weddings all over the UK, so as long as your venue isn’t any further away than 3 hours from my home in Cambridgeshire, I will not charge any extra for travel.
How many photos will we get?
All weddings are different, so I simply commit to making sure you get all the best images from your day, and on average I deliver around 600 for a full day booking.
CAN YOU HOLD A DATE FOR US?
I sadly can’t hold any dates as I work alone, but I will let you know if I get another enquiry for your date if you’re still deciding on booking me.
Do we need to feed you?
I don’t contract a meal but I never turn one down either, so I would really appreciate it if you are able to provide me with a meal on the day, but I’m very happy to bring my own as long as I know ahead of time!
This is all dependent on your individual timings, and hours of coverage booked of course, but as a general rule that’s my full day schedule.
If you want to learn a little bit more about me you can click here and read all about how exciting I wish my life was 🙂
The weather is awful! What happens?
I have spent my whole career in England, battling against the weather at multiple weddings, so please don’t worry as there is always a way to getting around it!
It’s very unlikely to be poor all day, meaning we may just need to pick our moments, but I will find a way of making it work regardless, and it’s always good to have a spare pair of shoes on hand just in case we need to brave some rain!
We want to book! what's the process?
If you have decided I’m the camera ninja for you and you want to book me (yay!), drop me a message and we can get the ball rolling!
I will send you a booking fee invoice and a contract, once this is paid (£500 for a full day) and the contract is signed, you’re all locked in – happy days!
