DANIEL ACKERLEY, WHO IS HE? LET’S FIND OUT…
I AM BASICALLY A PROFESSIONAL NINJA THAT OWNS A CAMERA…
and YES that is me in the photograph wearing a ‘I have no idea what I am doing’ badge, sinking a cold beer with this cool ass couple having a really relaxed and fun day, as all weddings should be and exactly the kind of wedding that really excites me because they are the best to photograph!
BUT ARE YOU…LOCAL?
I live in the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside village of Alconbury, with my wife Jennifer (above) and our kids Milo & Peanut. Yes, our kids are small, furry and poo in a box in our kitchen, but we live in East Anglia, so that’s pretty standard behaviour around these parts. That said, I capture romance all over the UK & Europe, so I’m happy to travel for your day.
Despite appearances, we are all very happy with the quiet life, Milo & Peanut in particular enjoy lording it over our little patch of the village. I need to keep convincing people to pay me to take photographs, so that my wife & kids don’t leave me, but also to fund my addiction to vinyl records, beer & fig rolls, so bare that in mind when you decide if you want to employ me! I really need the money so I will do a great job…
In my younger years I was in various punk rock bands (that’s me above trying to look cool with a mic swing – it twatted me in the head eventually) and I also played international baseball for GB! I have been told by various people over the years that my laugh is very infectious, and my rubbish attempts at growing a beard very entertaining, so I throw all that in for free when you book me.
WAIT A MINUTE, ARE YOU ACTUALLY A PROFESSIONAL?
Amazingly, and against all the odds, yes I somehow am a professional photographer with over 15 years experience! Not only that, I have picked up a few awards along the way, including winning Highly Commended at the 4 Counties Wedding Awards in 2019, and gaining multiple individual image awards from the likes of Nine Dots, Photographers Keeping It Real, Wedisson & LooksLikeFilm (I know none of these probably mean anything at all to you, but it sounds cool, right?).
I have also had the privilege of seeing my wedding photography published in Rock N Roll Bride magazine, Rock My Wedding, Boho Brides, Whimsical Wonderland Weddings, Brides Keeping It Real and East Anglian Wedding magazine to name but a few. I also have a second career as an internationally published music & portrait photographer, working at major music festivals like Download & Sonisphere, as well as being an inhouse photographer for the Electric Ballroom in London and the Cambridge Corn Exchange, and having my photography published in magazines such as Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, Terrorizer, Rock Sound, Clash, The Fly and many more.
